This course covers everything
needed to create and publish a medium-sized web site from basic HTML, the
language in which web pages are written, to the publishing process. It includes
full explanations of creating images for the web, and the basics of dynamic
HTML. You will cover how to use a professional WYSIWYG editor, Dreamweaver,
to add functionality to your site and speed the design process. The focus
of the course is on good design practice, and not the underlying Internet
technology.Who Should Attend?Web and graphic designers, Internet users who
want to learn the basic language of the Web - HTML. This course is particularly
suited to people who regularly maintain and update sections of web pages,
but do not necessarily want to design major web sites.
Course Content:
Day 1
Evolution of the web, HTML and browsers.
Mark-up tags: text formatting - headings, paragraphs, lists; BODY attributes
- colour of page and text.
Links: absolute and relative.
File naming conventions.
Images: creating simple graphics as GIFs, optimising photos as JPEGs, inserting
images in-line and as backgrounds.
Tables: using tables for page layout, table properties, colspan and rowspan.
Day 2
Sub-dividing a page into frames, targeting links.
Further GIF techniques - transparency and animation.
Introducing Dreamweaver: the WYSIWYG interface.
Adding interactive elements: forms, rollovers.
The publishing process: site management and uploading pages to a remote server.
